We did it!! Thank you for all of your support!! Please consider making a donation towards our shipping costs!
Angola was colonized by Portugal and its Catholic influence spread throughout the country. Current estimates put the number of Catholics in Angola to more than half the current population of 18 million people. After Angola received its independence in 1975 there were decades of civil war, which devastated the entire country. Now that they have the chance to openly celebrate their religion, they are eager to have rosaries to call their own.
Is there a connection to Holy Spirit?
Last summer one of our catechists returned to Angola for the first time since the war started in 1975. He asked for rosary donations and brought 1,000 rosaries made by Holy Spirit parishioners. He went to a Mass with more than 2,000 people and had to turn so many people away. This is where our goal of 100,000 came about! We want to continue to support the people of Angola with this symbol of our Faith.
How will we get them there?
Our Catechist made some connections with churches during his visit. We have addresses to send the rosaries to and will be collecting donations to help cover the cost of shipping! We will also send some with him the next time he is able to visit.
Think about how special having your own rosary can be.
