Parking Lot Resurfacing Project

As you may recall, in mid-2021 we began our efforts to resurface our parking lot because of its deteriorating condition which creates a hazardous situation. To get an idea of the magnitude of the project and develop a funding source, we developed a preliminary estimate of $400,000 for resurfacing our entire parking lot and decided to use our annual raffle as the funding source for this project. We realized early on that we needed to do the project in phases and continue our fundraising efforts for multiple years as well as that the duration of the project depends largely on our parishioners’ fundraising efforts.

Kicking off the project during the COVID 19 pandemic was not the best timing since many of our families were struggling financially. Even with financial challenges, many of you were extremely supportive of our effort. Our parish clergy, past and present, as well as the staff want to thank you from the bottom of our heart for your support. We are truly blessed to have parishioners like you.

Our 2021 and 2022 raffles netted a combined total of $69,000, which covered the first phase of the project and addressed our most immediate need. In June 2023, we awarded a contract to have the parking lot between the Church and Community Center resurfaced for $48,200. The contractor began work on Wednesday July 19, 2023, and completed the project on Saturday July 22, 2023. See related photo below. The same contractor provided us a proposal for resurfacing both our east and west parking lots at a price of $300,000. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to cover the cost at this time.

We are still well short of our overall goal, and our parking lot continues to deteriorate and create a more hazardous situation. Only our combined efforts can shorten the duration of this multiyear fundraising challenge. Please continue to support this project by buying or selling this year’s Paving The Way III raffle tickets. You may turn in your ticket stubs and funds after Sunday Mass or at our parish office during business hours. The raffle drawing will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023 during our Annual Fall Festival.
