Deacon Paul was born and raised in the Dallas area. He is the third of six children and his parents, G.L. and Alice Wood, currently live in Quitman, TX. Paul grew up in Pleasant Grove and went to St. Augustine Catholic Church where the pastor at that time was Fr. Thomas Tschoepe (later the Bishop of Dallas) and his assistant was Fr. Tim Gollob. Paul later went to St. James School on Saner Avenue. He entered Bishop Dunne High School in the 7 th grade and graduated from there in 1972. While there he played football, basketball and baseball and in his freshman year also ran track. He graduated from the University of Dallas majoring in Psychology and enough hours for a minor in Theology. While at UD he played baseball and was a pitcher and first baseman. He has one son named Daniel and is married to Diane. Diane is a career teacher with 31 years experience and serves as a reading specialist. She is currently finishing her work on Academic Language Therapy certification through Southern Methodist University.
Paul has worked at Bishop Dunne for 31 years and is currently the Director of Technology for the school. He and Diane are residents of Duncanville and are very happy with the completion of the Diaconate Formation Program. They are thrilled that he has been assigned to serve as a Deacon at Holy Spirit.
Paul has traveled to Germany, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii along with half of the United States. Diane has been to Germany, Holland, Denmark, England, Switzerland, Bolivia, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, the Soviet Union, Japan, South Africa, and Hawaii.
